1. Introduction
During the week starting from the 25th to the 29th of July 2016, the Zimbabwean media was awash with reports of many incidents of corruption, mal-administration and bad governance to name but a few. What should be stressed at the outset is that there is no single day that passes without a report of corruption captured by the media. However, the reports made constitute a drop in the ocean in view of the many cases of corruption that go unreported. Thus corruption is sadly part of the Zimbabwean way of life and the culprits are individuals at all levels, including national leaders who have been entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the interests of the people but have turned out to be predators.
This Corruption Media Monitoring Report (CMMR) closely scrutinises media reports on corruption and picks trends. To this end, we would like to heartily thank journalists who have invested their time and exposed cases of corruption as well as the effects thereof. In future, efforts will be made to award exceptional journalists as a way of motivating them towards the effective investigation and expose’ of corruption cases.
