JOHANNESBURG – Hundreds of people, including Zimbabwean nationals living in South Africa, have joined a solidarity march to the Zimbabwean Embassy in Pretoria.
The marchers are calling for a better Zimbabwe and are demanding that the international community intervene.
Yesterday, a Harare court dismissed the case against Pastor Evan Mawarire, who was accused of trying to overthrow government.
He called on Zimbabweans to stage peaceful stay aways in support of a campaign against corruption and economic instability in that country.
Mawarire says Zimbabweans have had enough of President Robert Mugabe’s government.
“We are tired. Everyone identifies and agrees that enough is enough and the government needs to respond appropriately. Our problem is that our government has not learnt to respond to citizens, they have always responded with a heavy hand.”
